Started off in the dark in order to get a spot on the tog grounds. First boat there and we waited for the sunrise. Mr. October had a limit by 9:30 followed by Rogee who had 7 followed by Tom K, from Byram, NJ with 3. Rebecca, Evelyn and Michael L tied with 2 and Big Tom showed up today. The big bucks went to Rogee with a lber. The wind picked up and the tide change didn't help the matter so we came in early. Plenty of action. Running trips on the 24th and the 26th. Interested ??? Blackfishing was top of the line today. With Rebecca K (pink boots) from NYC had her limit along with Felix Class of Jersey City. Runners up were Big Tom Anderson also from JC, NJ and Mr. October from Hoboken, NJ with 3 each. But the big bucks went to Mr. October with a 7lb. tog. Lots of action, if we had last years 15 " limit we would have been striper fishing by 11:30 am. Made a couple of drifts for bass but it was to rough to stay so homeward bound we headed. Doing it again next week and also the 16th of this month.

Pioneer III

Well it's fall and today it started to feel like it. Started off doing a couple of drifts for bass. First couple produced nada, the Mr. October hooked up and boxed a 21 lber. A couple of more drifts and the Capt called it quits and headed to the blackfish grounds. After about fifteen minutes they started to chew and chew they did to about 1 pm when we lost the tide. None stop action. Remember New York regs are 16"s and a bag limit of 4 per person. The old saying still stands " no tide no fish" so we came in early. The big bucks went Evz with a 19"er. Rogee, Rebecca and Mr. October managed 6 keeper for the day. And yes we are going to do it again next Sunday and either Thursday or Friday. Anyone interested ??????? let me know.

Pioneer III

Went looking for bass today instead of Sunday because the boys and Evz are heading to New Hamphire for a couple of days. Hit a few of the usual spots and nothing. Finally got tide and the monster blues hit he eels and chopped them up. First bluefish  was boxed by Rebecca. Then Evz managed the first bass then Rogee helped fill the cooler with another bass. Mr. October acted like a statue at St. Nicholas church. Just when you thought it was slowing down Rogee hooked a bass that took him around the boat that weighed in at 31 lbs. and took the cash.
And yes we are going to do it all again next Sunday and we will be blackfishing and bass fishing if we have too.

The change of seasons are upon us. We went up the east river and down the east river to the flats and across the channel. Covered a lot of  water and the fishing sucks. Yes I said it. Very bad. The big money winner was Rogee with a small blue of which Mr. October managed to give to one of his neighbors. Evz and Rebecca stood at the rail like true fisher girls all day. Waiting for colder water and the bass and blackfish to start chewing. Yes, we are going to do it all again next Sunday.
Have a couple of openings, let the Capt know if your are interested.

With a chill in the air we left the dock and headed for the fluke grounds. Beautiful flat calm water. 9:30 Rogee boxed the first keeper followed by Mr. October and then Evz. High hook was Rogee and Mr. October boxing a total of 3 each. Later in the afternoon Rebecca K. NYC managed to put 2 in the cooler. Coming out of his slump on Sunday fluking was Mr. October who took the big bucks and will be heading to a tackle shop to get ready for the upcoming bass season. Big Tom Anderson has taken over Mr. October's slump. Great day on the water but the afternoon started to show some 8' swells developing. Storm coming Tuesday.
And yes we are doing it all again Sunday. Have a couple of spots open, interested ???? .

Weather wise it was a perfect day to be on the water. Went looking for the bass and just couldn't do it. First fish on board was a blue that later weighed in at 17.8lbs. by Evz. Rogee added 2 more blues but nothing close to Evz's. The Capt. called it quits on the bass and went fluking for the rest of the day. Nothing to brag about in that category but Big Tom managed a 4.8lber to bagged the big bucks again. That a boy Tom. Rebecca and Mr. October did nothing to make this report.
Next trip is Thursday with a trip for fluke and seabass outside in the ocean. Weather looks good. Anyone interested let the Capt. know. 201-650-9768.

Strong SE wind kept us inside for awhile until the Capt decided to venture out and take on some rough water. Mr. October managed a limit in the weakfish category. The star of the day was our mate Dan with a 7.25 lber. with Joe N. managed to help dirty the cooler but the big bucks went to Rebecca K. NYC with a 4.25 lber. She is heading to the mall or tackle shop. Will be sailing Tuesday with the Hoboken cigar people and again Thursday with St. Peter and crew. Started off with a chill in the air, sweatshirts on and off we went. Wanted to stop short of where we were on Wednesday but that didn't last to long (sea robins) up the wazoo. Off to Montana and the fishing was slow but not many sea robins. Big Tom boxed the first keeper followed by Rogee who bagged 2 keepers including the big bucks with a 6lber. Evz boxed a nice sea bass of which will be on the table tonight. Rebecca and Mr. October were the hardy people of the day. The all most star of the day was Mr. October who managed to get a 5 plus lb sea bass to the top but not close enough to the Captains net. What a beautiful fish and it is still a beautiful fish. And yes we will do it again Tuesday and Thursday (have 3 openings) and Sunday also.

Don't expect a great fishing report because you are not getting one. Plenty of shorts and only 4 keepers for the day. Evz was true to form with 2 keepers followed by Rebecca and Big Tom each having one. The big bucks went to Big Tom for the third week in a row. Congratulations again Tom. Great fishing. You should give some pointers to the Hardy Boys, like Mr. October, Felix and Rogee. Have a trip set for Tuesday so lets see what happens. Doing it again as always next Sunday.

Had the outgoing most of the day. Stayed in the deep with fast moving current everywhere. Light ship traffic. Evz dirtied the cooler about 12:00 and Felix filled his pockets around 12:30 with the pool winner of about 4lbs. Rough day on the water (fishing that is). Will be doing it all again next Sunday.

Beautiful day on the water. Made the round robbin today with no good results. Went back to where we started and around 1:00 PM Rogee got the first keeper. While the Capt was netting the fish Big Tom was reeling in another boxer and was the biggest fish of the day BUT when the Capt netted it, it was found to be on the Capt's line. Oh Well.  As generous as the Capt is, he offered to split the fish. Capt. Andy took the fillets and gave Big Tom the rack. What a sport. Roger hook up again but the big bucks went to Rebecca K., NYC . Very slow but seems to be picking up. And yes we are going to do it again next Sunday or even sooner.

With Evz have her first by 8:47 and ending up with seven to 6lbs. The BARKER also had seven up to 7lbs but the big bucks went to Rebecca form NYC with an 8 lber. That a girl Lovey. Next  we went to the can (tin can grounds that is) and started to box a few fish. Uncle Bobby tried very hard but managed a couple of shorts, a skate and a couple of sea robbins. Mark S. and Michael L.  had  keepers for the day. Mr. October had 3 and the big money winner. The Capt decided to drift a couple of spots he had and up came some good size porgies and seabass. Tried to to get out early but had to wait for the minute man Randy who arrived at 6:59:45. Had a little chat with him. Out the canal we went, with about 1 hour left with tide we tried for bass. Rogee hooked up first with a short bass and also a mixture of blues. Mr. October boxed a behemoth of a blue and the games began with Big Tom, Evz, Felix, the minute man and Capt. Fred (tug boat) all contributed. A total of six short bass was released. Loosing tide and off to the fluke grounds. To fast at the porch and nothing at the birdcage we headed to the east off Coney Island and we started to catch. Mostly shorts but Rogee got 2 keepers, Evz got 1 and the big bucks went to Big Tom Anderson. First stop at the porch and the fish co-operated but nothing to box. Capt wanted to try some spots off Coney Island and off we went. Saw the birds working and grabbed a few blues for Skippy's upcoming tile trip. Good luck Skip. Finally got to the grounds and nothing worth while talking about. Headed back to another spot and Capt. Fred boxed 2 back to back and belly to belly, (Quote from John Sterling, NY Yankee commentator). Non stop action with Evz bagging the pool from Big Tom. Total of 6 nice fish in the box. Stopped for a shot at the bass on the way home and Michael got his first striper ever. Hardy boys in the fluke department were Mr. October and Michael Lombardi. Everyone else was a hardy boy in the bass department. Again everyone was early and we hit the first spot at 7:15 and nothing. Headed towards the bridge and hit the jackpot with 4 keepers and many close fish also encountered extremely heavy rain for about an hour. While at the bridge someone decided to call it quits and jump off the Verazano. 2 police boats and 2 coast guard boats were waiting as well as 2 helicopters. The person jumped and the police boat pulled him from the water and took the person to Staten Island CG Station. What a morning. Went to a few more spots and only shorts.  Got tide and the Capt, decided to try for bass. Hot rod was Rogee with 2 bass and 1 fluke followed by Evz with one and also a fluke. The big bucks went to non other than Big Tom Anderson who boxed 2 fluke. Three hardy people today. The chick from NYC, the big guy from Bayonne, NJ and Mr. October. Started off with a slight overcast that quickly disappeared. Had tide again and was fishing by 7:05. First fish was a short caught by Rogee and released. Around 9:00 am Rogee was at it again and this time it went in the cooler. Loosing tide the Capt. decided to go fluking and off we went.  Felix was the first to connect with an exacta and in the box it went and  also put the big money in his pocket. A few more fluke came aboard but missed by a 1/2" and back they went. While fluking a school of cocktail blues came by and Evz, Rebecca, Big Tom, Rogee and the Capt. started to fill the cooler. Boxed about 25 and the Capt. wanted to try for bass on the way home. Evz, Big Tom and Mr. October all managed a keeper, all looked to be of the same size. No tackle busters today. Also boated was 2 tog. Mr. October had a 17"er and Felix had a 16'er and also started to cry as the were returned to the natural habitat. (Sorry Felix its the law). Great day to be on the water. Lost the tide and off to the fluke grounds. St. Pete started it off with the first keeper. Then Mr. October got the hot rod and boxed 2 keeper within 30 minutes with one of them being the big money fish. Evz and Mark S had a very relaxing day. (Hardy People). Fluking died out and we made a bass stop on the way home. Mr. October bagged 2 and St. Pete got one. Wind pick up and we were looking at 4' seas and off to the dock we went. Let be known that Big Tom gave Mr. October a brand muffin that he had difficulty consuming but everything turned out fine.We had the honor of having Chief Inspector John Carrier (Hoboken Police Department ( happily retired), Felix , Mr. October, Roger, Big Tom and Evz. The bass were very fussy today, they would pick the bait up, run and then drop it. Felix, Roger and the Inspector managed to box one with Felix taking the big money. Lost the tide and fluking we went. The 1st of the 2 keepers that was tagged by non other that the inspector who ironically caught an 8 lber in the same exact spot about 10 years ago on the Pioneer III. The other was boxed by Roger who, if there was a fluke pool he would be a rich man. Good luck George. 1st stop Mark Singleton tagged a 26 1/2 lber with his new rod and reel. With no bites we tried new spots and nothing. The Capt kept talking to himself and just couldn't understand why the cooler wasn't dirty by now. Very slow fishing till about 1:15 and the afternoon bite took off. Big Tom got the first keeper followed by Rogee, Evz, Felix. The only limit was by Mr. October to 20lbs and the big money winner for the day. Only one hardy-person and that was the person from NYC.

Then Roger (the birthday boy) chimed in with a 16lb bass and again with another keeper bass. Big Tom tuned in with a 15 1/2 lb bass. Then that tide change occurred and off we went. Heading right into the fog the temperature took a dip and on came the heavy gear. Mr. October got into the action with 2 bass to 15lbs. Mr October had the catch of the with a 24" fluke which was returned to its natural habitat because that season doesn't open until May 1st. The big money went to the birthday boy with his first fish. After the last couple of trips the weather gave us a break. Flat calm water all day. Left the dock a little late due to the fact Roger couldn't get out of his driveway. The Capt wanted to try another spot but decided to make a quick stop and we thank him for that. It was Roger, Evz, Mr. October and the Capt. Roger started it off with the first shoalie and everyone kept the Capt busy netting fish. Once we hit 8 fish which was about 9:30 we started returning them to their natural habitat. Tide change and we were still catching. It slowed down so we decided to go to a spot closer to home for stripers. No good all we caught were 3 tog from 4 to 6 lbs. When collecting the pool we decided to let the Capt in, I told him I would give him the money back at the end of the day and sure enough  he got a 17"er that was also returned to it's natural habitat. Can't wait till next week.
