Pioneer III

Well today we started of it was 41 degrees and it basically stayed in that area all the time we were out there. On board today was Felix, Big Tom, Roger, Mr. October, Jack and of cause Evz and the Capt. If we were allowed to keep 15' fish like NJ we would have had a mess of fish but no, we have a 16"limit and that's that. The boat managed about 16 keepers with Big Tom boxing an 8lber. to take the mega bucks this week again. After being out there since Easter we finally got boarded by the fish police. They looked all over the boat as if we were drug smugglers and never once measured any of the fish. I think they were rookies and just going through the motions to satisfy the lieutenant in charge with a brand spanking new taxpayer boat. Oh well, so be it. We are now sailing on a new schedule: if the weather is nice and we can get enough to go then we go. The Capt , Evz and the Roving Reporter wishes everyone that sailed with us and their families and Happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Pioneer III

Today started off calm and stayed that way all day until the fog chased us in but the fishing improved again. On board was Broken toe Klinger from NYC who was the conservationist of the day and kept throwing her fish back. The dynamic duo (The Melillo's from Berkley Heights, NJ (eieieioooo dagnabbit)came out and Mike took the Mega buck pool today with a 6lb tog. Big Tom, Mr. October, Roger and Evz helped fill the cooler. The star of the day was Capt. Andy with 2 jumbo size tog. Everyone on board had a nice bag of fillets to go home with. Special thanks to Kevin Keller of Keller Electric in Hoboken, NJ for the farm fresh eggs he brought back from his country estate. And yes we are doing it all again next Sunday if not sooner. Pioneer III

What a great morning, weather wise that is. Pick a few fish. Nothing great until Mike Melillo boxed a 7lber. About 11:30 the wind picked up and so did the fishing. Kevin Keller from Keller Electric, Hoboken, NJ bagged his first ever tog and later managed a 6lber which hooked him on black fishing. Roger had his limit as did Evz. Big Tom was not feeling well and Rebecca got stuck in Manhattan as the path train will not be running to JC until the 24th of this month. Mr. October struck out today. The wind was blowing 35 so we called it quits and headed home.

Pioneer III

What a day to stay home but did we ???? no way. We were taking a beating at the blackfish grounds. Windy and a fast new moon tide beat us up. Roger, Mr. October and the Capt. managed to dirty the cooler with limits and Big Tom lost a giant tog a few feet from the net. Evz and Broken toe Rebecca had very close shorts that were sent back. The big bucks went to Mr. October and up in smoke it will go. Doing it again this Tuesday, Thursday and  back again on the 10th. Think it's easy being the Roving Reporter.
