Pioneer III

Well the fluke season is over in New York waters. Started off with a stiff NE wind that stayed with us all day. Fishing was great if you could keep the shorts but that doesn't happen on the Pioneer III. Jigging Jack, Cathy M, Rebecca and Mike M. had the hot rods for the day. With Cathy M. from Berkeley Heights, NJ had the only keeper and took the big bucks for last trip of 2015. Sad to see it go but change is good. Next week we will flip a coin and see what the Capt. wants to go for. Who knows: Bass, Porgies, Blues. Whatever. Keep in mind the first blackfish trip will be on Friday, October 9th. If you want to go let this reporter or the Capt. know.

We started the day off with 2 missing anglers. Cathy M. had a prior commitment and will be back next week. The next angler was Rebecca K. from NYC who simple overslept. Now who oversleeps now a days ??????? Got home late from a wedding and I bet she didn't even have a drink. Moving on.
The fluke are playing had to find and get. Went to a lot of spots that usually produced only to get the little guys. High hook and the winner of the big bucks was that master fisherman from Hoboken, NJ (THE LEGEND) with a massive 18" fluke. Next week is the last week to catch and keep the fluke. If anyone is in their right mind they should stay home and watch football. We are booked for next Sunday and hopefully Rebecca will wake up on time.

Perfect weather again today. That was the only good thing about today except for the massive school of blues that hit us on the first stop. Made a few more drift for them and half filled the box. The rest of the trip produced only shorts. Had to return the big bucks. That's all folks !!!!!!!! See you next week and hopefully a better report will follow.

We sure got lucky with the weather this year, so far. Hi hook was the BARKER from Clifton, NJ with 4 plus the big bucks recipient. He also supplied us with some Polish delicacies. Then Roger had 3, Cathy M and Jigging Jack had 2 each. The Capt. also had 1 which was the first one of the day. Evz did mostly all the netting of the day and did a dam good job. If Evz had the skunk hat today it would have been on Mike M. and the Legend. Plenty of shorts to go around and big sea robbins. Putting a trip together for Thursday, Sept. 3rd. Interested ???????? Another great day on the water. Fishing was very good but the keeping was aauuugh. The legend had 2 Mike M. had 2 and Roger and Jigging Jack each had 1. Shorts all day long. Last Sunday the fishing was like a house on fire with mostly shorts again. Don't remember who had what but the Legend would have been wearing that skunk hat if Evz ever finds it. Oh !!!! by way the Legend won the big bucks today.Trying to put trips together for the 28th of Aug. which is a Friday and also Sept. 3rd which is a Thursday. Interested ???? LMK
Remember !!!! Every year I tell you : The next thing you know, you will be shoveling snow.

One of the best days of summer and we had some good size fish. Starting with Evz, second fish on the boat was a little over 9lbs. she also added 2 more to the box. Onboard was Sgt. Russ Yeager of the Fanwood PD (RETIRED) who also added 3 to the box, great seeing you and hope to do it again soon. Say hi the  K's. Now !!! everyone knows the Barker. Well he got 2  5lb fish on his little 3 ft. rod and reel. He had everyone laughing their heads off. Thanks for the laughs. Next time bring the kielbasa. Jigging Jack had one along with Roger. The Legend is happy that Evz put that SKUNK HAT in a safe place. Also had 1 fish a little over 7 lbs and 1 just under 7lbs. Great day on the water. No one lost any tackle for the third week in a row. WOW WEEEEEEEEE.

Another great day on the water. On board was the dynamic duo from Berkley Heights, NJ. Mike  and Cathy Melillo. Both managed 2 keepers and Mike took the big bucks this week. Rebecca and Jigging Jack each had one. Roger and the Legend had to wear the skunk hat only if Evz finds it. She put it in a safe place at the end of last season. Plenty of  shorts all day long. Randy, Skippy and Bill stopped by in Randy's boat to say hello. Going to do it again next week.

Another great day to be on the water.  High hook was Roger with 4 followed by the Legend and Mike Melillo  with 3. Rebecca had 2, Cathy and Jigging Jack had one each. The tide stopped and so did the fishing. The big bucks went to Mike through Cathy's hands. And yes we will be doing it again next week. NO EQUIPMENT WAS LOST AGAIN THIS WEEK.

There was 2 hot happenings on the Pioneer III today. First as everyone knew was the weather  the other one was Rebecca K. from NYC with the 1st limit of the 2015 season on the Pioneer III and she also took the bucks. Everyone contributed to the box with a fish except Evz who had TWO. Jigging Jack had the most shorts and a couple of heart breakers. Great day.

Another beautiful day on the water. Made a quick stop inside and jigging Jack boxed a 7 1/2 lber and that's all he needed to bag the bucks. Went outside and the action was great with the shorts taking up most of the catch. Everyone contributed to the catch which totaled 10 keepers.
NEWS ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  No Tackle was lost overboard for the last 2 weeks and the pool winner was paid on the boat.

Woweeeeee What a day to be on the water. Left the dock at 6:30 and was fishing by 7:10. Had the tide and was doing 16 knots. Lots of shorts but the keepers got bigger like Evz  7 1/2 lber. and Rebecca's 5 1/2 lb pool winner. High hookers today was Cathy Melillo and Ken (the legend) with 3 apiece followed by Mike (I did not loose any rods this week) Melillo with 2, Jigging Jack had 1 and Roger gave us a lot of moral support and laughs. Tried the deep on the way home and only one sand shark caught by Roger. One more stop on the way home and Cathy got the whistle fish to 4 1/2 lbs.
Doing it again next Sunday and maybe during the week. Feel like fishing call the Capt. at 201-650-9768.

What a day to stay in bed but did we ? NOPE !!! It was damp and misty and everyone had to gear up. We left the dock early and tried new grounds. Produced a lot of fish but were mostly shorts. We did get to keep 5 with Roger being high hook with 2 and Cathy, Ken the Legend and Evz having the rest. Cathy took the bucks this week and volunteered to put it towards a new rod and reel for her hubby as Michael managed to drop his overboard as did another fisherman last week. We will do it all again next week. Sailing Wednesday, Friday and again Sunday. Openings available for Wednesday, July 1st. Interested ???? Call the Captain. 201-650-9768.

It doesn't get any better than today weather-wise that is. We had a lot of short action and an increase in the keeper category. Evz, Roger and Mike M had 2 each and jigging Jack had 1 but it was the one that took the big bucks. The Legend, Joe N and Felix were the hardy boys for today As the water gets warmer it seems to increase the keeper catch. See yeah next week.

What a day on the water. Started off looking for bass and nothing but shorts were being caught until Michael Lombardi of Chatham, NJ boxed a 16lber. also Mike Mellilo boxed a 3lb, fluke. The bite slowed and off we went in search of a fluke. Jigging Jack had 1 along with Mike Melillo who managed a 6lber to take the big bucks again this week. Mike(corporate executive) Lombardi also added one to the cooler. The bass seem to be leaving but the Capt will still keep his ears open. Everyone managed to put a few cocktail blues in the box. We will do it all again next week.

Left the dock early to get the tide and that is exactly what we did. The Capt got us on the money. Bass limit was caught by 7:30 with a 20 lber being the largest. Bass were chasing bunker all around us. What a sight. Got tired of bass fishing and went looking for the fluke. Went to the usual spots and they produced some shorts along with some keepers. Rebecca box a 5 1/2 lber to take the big bucks for the day. Got back to the dock just before the rain.

On board today was Randy, Ken (the legend), Roger, Jigging Jack and the Melillo's. First stop was for bass and nothing but shorts. Off we went in search of the fluke. First keeper to hit the box was caught by Mike Melillo who was high hook with 2 followed by Cathy Melillo and Randy with 1 each. Oh by the way the Capt. added 2 to the box. Capt. decided to go for bass the last half hour of the trip and Cathy managed a 19lber and a another keeper. Great form in bringing them in. Jack, Ken and Roger were hardy boys today. Fluke pool went to Mike with a 4 1/2 lber. just beating out Randy. Doing it again next week.

Got a late start due to dense fog but we finally got started around 9:30. Made a few stops for the fluke and only managed to get shorts. The capt. decided to go looking for some bass which was welcome change. Came back inside and anchored up and waited. Short wait as Cathy(skinny) Mellilo had the first short. Mike Mellilo, Jigging Jack, Kevin (the Egg man), Mr. October all managed short bass. The star of the day was Roger with an 18lb bass that gave him the big bucks for the day. All in all it turned out to be a nice day.

Lost tide as soon as we got to the first spot. Nothing. Next we had to wait for tide, got tide and maybe 1or2 shorts came aboard. Rode around and tried a couple of more spots and a couple of more shorts with the exception of a 3lb blue caught by Mr. October. Anything that could go wrong did. On board was Grand pa Kenny, son Corey, grandson Corey, Bob and Capt. tug boat Fred. Sunday the 17th is the start of the fluke season and we will be out there. Check back for the first fluke report because the next thing you know you will be shoveling snow.
