Pioneer III

On board today: Mr. October, Rogee, Big Tom, Evz, Michael (the college kid) Lombardi and Capt. (Tug Boat) Fred Frable of West Milford, NJ. First stop at the porch and the fish co-operated but nothing to box. Capt wanted to try some spots off Coney Island and off we went. Saw the birds working and grabbed a few blues for Skippy's upcoming tile trip. Good luck Skip. Finally got to the grounds and nothing worth while talking about. Headed back to another spot and Capt. Fred boxed 2 back to back and belly to belly, (Quote from John Sterling, NY Yankee commentator). Non stop action with Evz bagging the pool from Big Tom. Total of 6 nice fish in the box. Stopped for a shot at the bass on the way home and Michael got his first striper ever. Hardy boys in the fluke department were Mr. October and Michael Lombardi. Everyone else was a hardy boy in the bass department. It's only getting better so book your trip now.

Pioneer III

Again everyone was early and we hit the first spot at 7:15 and nothing. Headed towards the bridge and hit the jackpot with 4 keepers and many close fish also encountered extremely heavy rain for about an hour. While at the bridge someone decided to call it quits and jump off the Verazano. 2 police boats and 2 coast guard boats were waiting as well as 2 helicopters. The person jumped and the police boat pulled him from the water and took the person to Staten Island CG Station. What a morning. Went to a few more spots and only shorts.  Got tide and the Capt, decided to try for bass. Hot rod was Rogee with 2 bass and 1 fluke followed by Evz with one and also a fluke. The big bucks went to non other than Big Tom Anderson who boxed 2 fluke. Three hardy people today. The chick from NYC, the big guy from Bayonne, NJ and Mr. October. Starboard side of the boat was dead for some reason. That's fishing. We are doing it again tomorrow.

Pioneer III

Everyone was early and we were fishing by 7:15. First hook-up by Evz and was a big fish and it still is. Roger had the hot rod with 2 keeper bass followed by Evz and Mr. October. As usual we lost the tide and started look for the elusive fluke. Had plenty of action, throwing back 18 and 19 inch fish. It hurts but that's the law. Managed 3 keepers and the big bucks went to Evz ( a shopping we will go). Big Tom and Roger had the other ones. 2 hardy people today. The chic from NYC and the big guy from Bayonne. Will be doing it again next Sunday with the same anglers.

Pioneer III

Started off with a slight overcast that quickly disappeared. Had tide again and was fishing by 7:05. First fish was a short caught by Rogee and released. Around 9:00 am Rogee was at it again and this time it went in the cooler. Loosing tide the Capt. decided to go fluking and off we went.  Felix was the first to connect with an exacta and in the box it went and  also put the big money in his pocket. A few more fluke came aboard but missed by a 1/2" and back they went. While fluking a school of cocktail blues came by and Evz, Rebecca, Big Tom, Rogee and the Capt. started to fill the cooler. Boxed about 25 and the Capt. wanted to try for bass on the way home. Evz, Big Tom and Mr. October all managed a keeper, all looked to be of the same size. No tackle busters today. Also boated was 2 tog. Mr. October had a 17"er and Felix had a 16'er and also started to cry as the were returned to the natural habitat. (Sorry Felix its the law). Great day to be on the water. Will do it again next Sunday.

Pioneer III

Left the dock and having the tide we were bass fishing by 7:30. Jerry threw his line in and turned around and had the first bass on immediately. He no sooner tossed his line out and he had another one on. He was limited in 45 minutes. Then Tacklebox Tom tagged the biggest bass of the day. (Thank god we had a fluke pool today.) Lost the tide and off to the fluke grounds. St. Pete started it off with the first keeper. Then Mr. October got the hot rod and boxed 2 keeper within 30 minutes with one of them being the big money fish. Evz and Mark S had a very relaxing day. (Hardy People). Fluking died out and we made a bass stop on the way home. Mr. October bagged 2 and St. Pete got one. Wind pick up and we were looking at 4' seas and off to the dock we went. Rough ride home but we made it. Great day to be on the water except for the last hour.

Pioneer III

Early start and we were fishing by 7:10. Let be known that Big Tom gave Mr. October a brand muffin that he had difficulty consuming but everything turned out fine.We had the honor of having Chief Inspector John Carrier (Hoboken Police Department ( happily retired), Felix , Mr. October, Roger, Big Tom and Evz. The bass were very fussy today, they would pick the bait up, run and then drop it. Felix, Roger and the Inspector managed to box one with Felix taking the big money. Lost the tide and fluking we went. The 1st of the 2 keepers that was tagged by non other that the inspector who ironically caught an 8 lber in the same exact spot about 10 years ago on the Pioneer III. The other was boxed by Roger who, if there was a fluke pool he would be a rich man. We have another trip book for Thursday and again on Sunday.
