Pioneer III

It doesn't get any better than today weather wise that is. Had about a half an hour left to the tide and we stopped for bass. Mr. October got the first of 2 keepers. Lost the tide and off to the fluke grounds. We totaled 5 keepers with dynamic duo Mike and Cathy Melillo having 3, Mr. October and Skip  Pietropoula ??? combining for the other two. The big bucks went to Mike Melillo. The catch of the day went to Skip who caught a rod and reel and Jack who managed a tree, yes a tree. Doing it again tomorrow.

Everyone was there early and off we went. On board today were the dynamic duo from Berkley Heights, NJ. Mike and Cathy, Kevin Keller of Keller Electric, Hoboken, NJ. Mr. October, Rebecca Klinger, NYC, Roger Miller and Evz. Started looking for fluke. No bites for the first 3 spots and that was it. Striped bass was our next target. with tide not being right the Capt. headed to his 2nd spot and that's all she wrote. Kevin was high hook with 4. Limited out and by 1:00 and headed in. Today we had 2 pools, fluke and bass. Bass pool went Roger with a 25lber and the fluke pool went Mr. October with a 20"er. WHAT A DAY.

Pioneer III

Wow !!!!! What a day to be on the water. Five stripers were boated today. 2 were close to 25lbs. Capt. Andy boated the first fluke of the 2014 season and was returned to it's natural habitat. Fluke season opens on the 17th and the size limit is 18"s and 5 bag limit. Also caught were about 20 blackfish that were also returned. Evz took the bucks today and she deserved it. The bass had it's mouth open and with a strong tide, it was tough but she managed to get it to the boat for the Capt. to gaff it. The fish of the day went to Mr. October with a winter flounder that hit the deck and was never seen again. Flounder limit is 2. Evz and Roger had limit bass and Rebecca had 1. Doing it all again next Sunday.

Pioneer III

Well the first trip of the year was like the last trip of last year. Cold and very windy with the fish not co-operating. We had about 10 short bass, 2 skates and a crab. As always a lot of laughs with the Melillo's, Roger, Mr. October, Rebecca, Evz and our farorite Capt. Andy. See you next week.
